This redundant shop was transformed by Altitude Studio into an Information Centre for Re-Blackpool, located in Houndshill Shopping Centre in Blackpool.

Altitude Studio, the architectural interior design service, found itself beside the seaside recently, when it completed a design-and-build project for ReBlackpool, the resort’s urban regeneration company.  ReBlackpool is delivering a vision of the resort’s Masterplan, which aims to transform this famous British holiday town into a world class, 21^st century visitor destination. The regeneration company is making the Masterplan a reality by attracting visitors and funding.  It will also bring land forward for development.  The 15-year plan focuses on the resort core, including the famous Golden Mile and Blackpool Tower.As part of this Masterplan Altitude Studio collaborated with Preston-based Wash Design on ReBlackpool ReVealed, a 55m² Information Centre. The creative team’s brief was to provide a strong brand image and to include a modular system, allowing for possible re-location.

“The project, produced on a strictly controlled budget, certainly presented a few challenges,” explains Sharon Snape, Managing Director of Altitude Studio.  “ReBlackpool wanted a creative concept to convey the idea of renewal.  There were also practical considerations.  A suspended ceiling meant that it could not be used for hanging graphic panels.  Wash’s solution was to design and produce ‘layered’ graphics, which were hung from rails fixed to the walls.” As part of its involvement Altitude Studio drew up elevations using CAD drawings and liaised with the relevant departments regarding health and safety issues.  The company also delivered the finishes and backdrop, including flooring, ceiling and lighting.

The resultant ‘gallery’ feel was dramatic, moody and striking. Kate Staley of ReBlackpool comments:  “ReBlackpool ReVealed has certainly attracted and excited a wide range of visitors and their response has always been positive.”

Altitude Studio, based in Blackburn, Lancashire, challenges the standard within the commercial, residential and exhibition markets and has managed a variety of projects, including offices, hotels and restaurants.
